Sometimes it's just plain rough to be a Richins...

And sometimes it's just plain Great!

This is a catch up and the pictures are out of order...but what do you do? I forgot what I had on this camera card...so I just started uploading and then found more and more and more...

So...a few weeks ago Miss Addy got baptized!
Holy cow!

I'm still not sure how we got from this...

All the way to this...

Strangely...I wasn't teary with this baptism...
Last year, when Camden was baptised, I cried at EVERY little thing for a week before the event.
With Addy's...I was BEAMING!
As people walked into the chappel, my smile got bigger and bigger and bigger.
It really was the best day.

My mom made this super cute dress for Addy.
She picked the fabric and I chose the pattern...
it's a pattern that my GRANDMA made for my MOM when she was little...
And so did everyone else...

These are my cute little ones the Sunday after the baptism...

Saturday, after the baptism, everyone came to our house for lunch and fun!
I was inside cleaning up a little, when I heard my sister gasp and say, "Look at mom!"
I looked out my kitchen window and saw this...

Now, let me explain...
All growing up...we just didn't see this side of my mom...sometimes...she'd boogie a little behind the vacuum, but usually, she was too stressed.
Until she met the wonderful man I call "Dad"...my step-dad Alan.
He brings out this fun and playful side of my mom...and I ADORE him for it.

I love, love, LOVE that my kids and nieces and nephews get to enjoy this side of Grandma.
It makes my whole being so happy.

Ok...another picture from the Sunday after the baptism...they wanted to show off how "stair steppy" they are...
I didn't realize Camden had pulled a pose until just now.

And of course, a few weeks before the baptism...School started and Addy turned 8.  Her birthday is almost always the first week of school!

Here's my 9th grader ready to RULE THE SCHOOL!
I told him that and got a (groan)...please don't say that again...
So of course, I have to say it every chance I get. ;)

And the two littlest ones...
Addy is in 3rd and Camden in 4th

Tyler is a SENIOR this year and my, not so little anymore, Colie Olie is in 5th!

Addy's birthday went on for about 5 days...

She got Monster High Dolls, La Dee Da Dolls, and CLOTHES!

We interrupt the regularly scheduled programming for this exciting trick performed by Brendan Roper, invented by Taylor Roper...
What you can't see is that there is a cup sitting on the floor about 2 feet in front of the fridge that he is shooting the water, with astounding accuracy, into!
Yes, our water dispenser is broken...

Back to the birthday celebrations!

Check out Holden and Camden...they harmonize rather well.
I love this picture because it just sums up our crazy family!

For about 3 weeks we had some of our very best friends who are really family staying with us...
They had lived in Lehi and we'd grown to love them and then they moved to St. George following jobs.
Things changed again and they've moved BACK!
We are so glad!
And while I know Amy was losing her mind having to live in our house for weeks waiting for their home to be ready...
I really did love having them all there.
I absolutely love her...and all of them.
This is Taylor...getting a teasing from Shawn...no one is safe!

And onto the painful part of being a Richins...
Tyler went to Homecoming again this year...with a cute girl named Britney...who is also a very good sport. :)

This year he was at Camille's for Homecoming weekend so it was a little harder to prank him...but we still managed.
He'd kept the specifics of his date underwraps...but that Saturday I was able to get the important info out of him by asking if I could come to the dinner date to take pictures because he wasn't at our house this year.
He gave me the info and the plan was hatched...

Here are the tormenters all dressed up...
Take notice of the "abs" on Holden!

I showed up first with Amy and chatted with the kids until the Bikers arrived, radio blaring, and engine revving!

Tyler looked at me as they pulled into the parking lot and said, "Jessi! Why did you tell them!?!?" I'll be honest...it tugged at my heart strings...I was laughing too hard to really feel repentant though!

After the initial shock...all the kids began laughing and saying, "that is so cool!"
We got a few pictures with the bikers and they took off...

Then I got a few pictures of the cute couple and then I took off...

So...we're still here...still alive...and still kicking!

Round Up!

I'm what you'd call a Lehi transplant. I was born in Salt Lake City, lived in Kearns, Salt Lake, and Spokane before settling finally in Highland at 7 years old. I consider myself Highland bred.
When I fell in love with Lehi man I didn't figure I'd ever consider myself "from Lehi"...
But I've changed my tune.
If I had to pinpoint a date for my conversion...maybe the day my Holden started school? The day I brought baby Camden home from the hospital? The day we moved into our permanent home? Who knows. All I know is that over the last 10 years...I've become quite proud of this little city.
And I'm glad to raise my kids here...
SURROUNDED by family, friends, neighbors, and great people all around!

Last year a friend of mine, also named Jessica, was in charge of the ward float.
Let me back up, every year almost all of the wards in Lehi build a float for the Round Up celebrations and parades on Friday and Saturday.
The city reimburses the wards and there is a COMPETITION.
So, like I said, last year my friend Jess was in charge. I helped her out by making a gazillion cute costumes. And we ROCKED IT!

We did such a great job apparently, that the Bishop asked me to be in charge this year.
I have been eating, sleeping, and breathing float since the beginning of January.
We were the first to register our float idea (so that no one else can do the same thing)...BEFORE the theme was even out there...The lovely lady heading up the Parade committee is in our ward...and a friend. But before you go thinking we won because of that...she is VERY careful to not give extra help...and we respect her position enough to not ask or take advantage.
ANYWAY, this year the city theme was "75 years of Kids, Cowboys, and Fun"
And our ward theme was "Ask any Pro, This ain't our first Rodeo"

And this year...well, it wasn't Sweepstakes, but we did take 1st PLACE! And honestly...we were thrilled...the floats this year were out of this world!
Tons of people kept saying how much better they were this year.
So...1st Place? WE'LL TAKE IT!

Each float is pulled by kids...
This year our pullers were cowboys.
How stinking cute are they? And could you die over those belt buckles!
Our 6th puller was on a Scout camp out when we had dress rehearsal (yes, we are crazy when it comes to the float)

Our float riders:
Left to Right Rodeo Clown, Cowboy, Rodeo Queen, Announcer
So dang cute!

At the front of our float we had 4 "Burger Boys"...see Lehi Rodeo is FAMOUS for their Rodeo Burgers!
So we had 2 burger boys at each front corner...And really, who WOULDN'T buy a burger from those cute faces!?

Following the float we had 3 lines of kids...on the right we had a line of cute girls in blue dresses...
The two littlest ones in grey sat on the back of the float.
Aren't they darling!?

On the left we had a line of cute girls in purple dresses...
The little ones in grey also sat on the back of the float.
How seriously adorable are they!?

In the center we had a line of handsome boys!
I am in LOVE with the hats and pants!

Carrying the signs announcing our ward and float theme were 3 Rodeo Queen Attendants

And here it is! Our float!
I gotta tell you...Shawn was AWESOME building this thing for me...my brother in law came in from California to help me...ok, not really, I mean he came, but not just to help...though he was fabulous and just worked and worked on it!
And all those pompoms...Jess and Paige were ROCKSTARS at getting those done!

Our bull Greased Lightning...he moved when our Rodeo Clown pulled on the rope!

My cute niece and nephew from California agreed to help us out and participate this year.
Such dolls!

My own cutie patooties!

We had two BIG Burger Boys walk on either side of the float "selling" popcorn, ice cold drinks, and RODEO BURGERS!

Our Rodeo Clown all done up...
I could just eat him up!

Our awesome Announcer!

Our Rodeo Queen waved and blew kisses the WHOLE way...that's 2 miles folks.
She was a PRO!

Lined up and ready to go!

And 1st PLACE! WAHOO!

And my float sister!
And yes we are sporting Tiaras.
Compliments of the PG City Royalty.

I had a BLAST most of the time! LOL! I lost a TON of sleep! I may never sew again (jokes)...but truly, I LOVED doing the float again! It probably didn't hurt that we won again...
And, the question of the month...will I do it again?
I think it's someone elses turn...though I wouldn't change a thing about the last 6 months.
