A Hunting We Will Go...

Our faithful hunters went out again looking for a turkey...unfortunately, gathering seems to be the new big thing. The only thing Holden brought home was his dog eared 419 page book...FINISHED. He told me that he'd read about 8 hours that trip and that should excuse him from the 30 minutes each day for like 2 months...right?

Still no turkeys for the hunters...maybe next year!

Kids say the darndest things!

Today at Target I was trying to park but there were 2 teenage employees standing in front of a free parking space...I smarted off about them flirting then parked somewhere else. As we walked up to the store, Addy says, "Look, they are still flirting. They are all "oooooh...I'm not married. Are you?"
Shawn has gotten scruffy and this morning he gave Addy whiskerburn. She looked at me and said, "dad just gave me scratchy face and it was AWESOME." it was dripping with sarcasm!
Addy told Shawn the other day, "Dad...I'm gonna give you a S'mage." Shawn looked at me, but I didn't know what she was talking about either. Addy, reading our confusion, says, "OH! I keep saying it to fast...you know. A SAH-mage..." Still nothing. Addy: after a sigh of exasperation: "You know a SAH-mage...I'll SAH-mage your shoulders and then your feet? A SAH-mage!"
On Shawn's bithday Addy told him, "Dad...you are the birthday boy so you get to make all the decisions." Shawn told her he wanted to go home and relax (we were out looking for the Nike+ thing to sync his runs). Addy responded, "No. You can't choose that." LOL!
It had started raining yesterday when I was picking up the kids from school. Camden got in the car first and said to me, "Mom. It is TOTALLY tinkling out there!"
Addy says to me this morning: "I'm going to do everything you say today because you're the BIRTHDAYGIRLMOM!"
Addy: Mom you know the Cole (birrer), not our brother, who lives in the other sul de cac. The one that's not ours...
Holden: Camden, it was a fart GUN, not a fart RAY...there's a big difference! Ok, maybe not, but it was a GUN...a fart GUN! (despicable me)
Addy: Mom you know that green stuff? The zinknee? You know? It was LICIOUS! (Zuchini)
This wasn't one of the kids, but it was so FUNNY! I have to list it! Shawn and I just sold the big truck and bought my grandparents Suzuki Grand Vitara. We'd just been to the bank to get the car loan and were at their house to pay them. We chatted for a bit about what kind of car they were going to get now and my grandma says," All I know is that I drove that Toyota TURD...yeah, the TURD, and I don't like it" My grandpa looks at her funny for a minute, then starts to laugh. "You mean the TRD?" He says. "Yeah, that's it, but I just call it the TURD" grandma responds. I had to use the bathroom I was laughing so hard!
In Sacrament meeting Sunday Camden was following along with the program. Every once in a while he would ask who was speaking (we had a family speak) then nod and continue to follow along. As the 3rd speaker was wrapping things up, Camden checked her off on the program then asked me, "Mom, do we HAVE to do the Ward Chore!?!?!?" The program read, "Ward CHOIR".
Holden, after reading the directions on the Hershey Bar package on how to make S'mores, "There can't be people who DON'T know how to make s'mores." Mom: "I'm sure there are people who aren't lucky enoughh to have a fire pit in their backyard that may not know." Camden: "Yeah Holden. Like Hobos!"
Addy's new thing, "Mom, it's me...Addysen..."
Cole: Cam you're my BFF. Seriously, you are. Cam: No I'm not. Mom: Here comes a fight. Cole: You are! You're my Best Friend Forever...BFF, that's what it means. Cam: No, I'm you're BBF...you know, Best BROTHER Forever. Cole: Yeah. That's it.
Addy was going to bed last night and wanted to say her own prayer. She was having a hard time going to bed alone, crying and such, so I suggested that she ask Heavenly Father to help her sleep by herself. She insisted she was able to pray by herself and this is how it went. Crying, "Dear Jesus and Heavenly Father...Please help me to not be sad." Pause. In a normal voice, "Oh. Thanks." Then the rest of the prayer continued in a normal tone. Oh to have the faith of the young! Such quick answers to prayers!
I was going to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned. Addy told me as I was leaving, "Mom, if you are really good, the dentist will put a star on your teeth too!" A filling...if I'm good...
We were all at the courthouse for Ella's adoption, waiting afterwards in the hall. Cole and the other kids were running around and as he ran toward the rest of us, Wade said to Cole, "You sure look like your dad!" To which Cole replied, "No. You're the one who is gay."
Addy: Mom I have a MOUTH COLD! Seriously! (Brain Freeze)
Addy: Valentines=Thanksgiving
Oh good grief! I just realized that I spelled "claim" "C-L-A-M-E". Wow.
Can't clame this kid, but funny all the same! Shantel: "My, your left butt cheek is looking very toned today."
Addy: Old day...any reference to the past: other day, yesterday, last year...
I was making spaghetti for dinner and apparently Addy wanted something else. She came into the kitchen and said to me, "Mom, if dinner starts on fire we don't have to eat it, right?" I answered that was right. She then told me, "K. Will you start dinner on fire?"
Addy: Vacation - field trip
Karalee was helping me out yesterday by picking up the kids from school. I was reminding both Cam and Addy to watch for her. Addy says, "That's ok for Karalee to pick me up because she's my aunt, right?" I replied that yes she was and that it was ok. Cam looked at me puzzled and says, "She's my aunt? I thought she was my step-mom. Huh."
Addy: "Heavenly Father. Please let my dad sleep good and never wake up. Jesus Christ. Amen." Dad's been on graveyard shift for a few months and the kids hear a lot of: "SHHHH! Dad's trying to sleep."
Addy: "1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10...Now I know my ABC's, so I don't need your help..."
Grandpa Steve retired a few years ago. During our most recent visit to Oak City, Holden asked Grandpa what he's been doing since he's "retarded"...WHOOPS! reTIRED!
Camden has been eating school lunch the last few weeks. A few days ago, though, he asked me to make his lunch to take. "Mom can I have HOME lunch instead of SCHOOL lunch?"
Addy had been sick with the flu for a few days, so when she asked for a fruit by the foot for breakfast I happily obliged. She came into my room where I was folding laundry and said to me, "Mom! Watch this!" She put a bit of fruit roll up in her mouth and began to BOOGIE! Then she says, "Fruit roll up makes me DANCE!"
Addy was downstairs playing with her polly pockets. Shelley and Holden and Camden were watching t.v. Shelley said she kept hearing Addy call the pollies, "Dumb Ass!" Again and again and again. Any thoughts on where she learned something like that?
Addy was watching t.v. and a hair color commercial came on. The announcer was saying that it was so easy...just wash the grey away. Addy started to laugh and said, "the t.v. is so silly...you can't wash your hair away! You have to SHAVE it!"
It was almost bedtime and Addy was sitting with me on my bed. She asked what I was doing. I told her I was thinking about putting kids to bed, did she know of any who should be going to bed soon? She pondered for a moment and then said, "MOM! There are kids outside you can put to bed!" Then she ran off to play...
I was sitting next to Camden consoling him, he'd just fallen on the sidewalk, when my stomache growled. He stopped crying and asked me, "Was that your tummy?" I told him it was, that it was hungry. He looked at me with a skeptical face and said, "Are you sure? 'Cause it sounded kind of mad..."
Addy has taken to singing to my nephew Aiden when I babysit him...I love Aiden...I love Aiden...you are my buddy...I love Aiden..."he likes it mom" she says to me. She really loves Aiden!

We went and saw our sweet new niece Lula on Saturday. Addy LOVED her and kept asking to hold her again and again. All week long, she's been kind of moping. Finally today I asked her what was wrong, thinking perhaps she wasn't feeling well...she looked up at me with such sad eyes and told me. "you're taking too long mom, I miss Lula. I think she's sad that I'm not there with her."
Addy pinched her finger in the pantry door today. She was crying and as I was consoling her, she brokenly told me, "It was an accident and I can't tell myself I'm sorry because I'm crying"
Whenever Addy "knows" something, she tells us "it's in my head"..."everything is in my head!"
Camden is learning to read in Kindergarten. He wants to read all by himself, when he gets stuck, he won't let me help him. He tells me he is going to "act it out"...
Addy loves to do Shawn's hair and paint his toenails. The other day she told Tyler that it was good luck to paint his toenails. Since he had a basketball game that afternoon, he let her paint his toenails to match Shawn's...pink with pretty sparkles!
Shawn was leaving for work one night (he's a police officer) and Camden told him, "Don't get dead dad!"
